Essential10 Ltd (“Essential10”) appreciates the trust our authors and readers have in the Company. We strive to place the highest priority on your privacy. This Privacy Statement outlines our policies.
Essential10 is committed to protecting the privacy of our authors, our readers and the people who come to our site. We will never sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone. Also, you always control your communications preferences.
We may collect your IP addresses, browser type, page views, clickstream and usage. This information helps us continually optimize the performance and usability of the site; display content and advertising that matches visitor or author or reader interests; and make automated book recommendations.
Every person with a MyEssential10 Account can access all public areas of the site. We may store cookies in your browser to help you personalize your use of the site and so you are automatically logged in to the site each time you visit (unless you manually logged out during your last visit). A MyEssential10 Accountholder can post reviews, purchase books, publish books, and use other services that the Company may make available from time-to-time. When you register for your MyEssential10 Account, our registration form requires a valid email address so we can contact you about your account and respond to your customer service requests. We ask you to create a unique Essential10 password so we can protect access to your account. We may ask for demographic information like zip code and whether you are 18 years of age or older. We use your zip code to present you with geographically relevant information, and we use age to prevent children from viewing inappropriate adult content. We record several details related to your usage of the site, including but not limited to, reviews you’ve posted, books you’ve published, books you’ve sold, author pages you’ve browsed, books you’ve sampled or purchased, and royalties you’ve earned. We do not disclose your personally identifiable information or usage to third parties. However, any information you voluntarily upload or post to the site, such as books, book reviews or personal profile information, becomes publicly available to other users of the site. When you create a personal profile page, your email address is not disclosed publicly.
Essential10 allows a MyEssential10 Accountholder to publish his or her work under an assumed “pen name.” Under no circumstances will Essential10 reveal the author’s true identity to customers or site visitors. Essential10 reserves the right to reject submitted pen names under such circumstances where the name is deemed offensive or otherwise inappropriate, such as using the name of a famous person when you are not that person. The Author shall indemnify Essential10 for any and all losses incurred by Essential10 resulting from the use of any such pen name.
Authors who wish to sell their works on Essential10 are required to provide more detailed registration information, such as real name, a postal mailing address, a telephone number, and possibly tax ID information to comply with state and local tax requirements. Essential10 will only use this contact information to fulfill our obligations to you and will not sell or rent your information to third parties.
People with a MyEssential10 Account will receive occasional emails from us communicating about what is going on with the site and featuring updates. Published Essential10 authors may receive emails when they sell a book, or when their book is reviewed. When a reader buys a book, we may send the reader an email reminder to review it. We may add additional event triggers in the future. You may opt-out of these updates, or subscribe to other updates, at any time by adjusting your communications preferences at http://www.Essential10.com/e10. Essential10 does not allow third parties to send emails to its customer list. Your email addresses are never revealed on the web site. Essential10 prohibits its authors from engaging in spam email to promote their books. See the Essential10 Terms of Service for more information.
Some Essential10 authors may want to offer special discounts or even free eBooks to customers in exchange for the customer providing their email address to the author. In cases where such incentives are offered, Essential10 will clearly notify the customer in advance, and give the customer the option to accept the incentive, or reject the incentive and proceed with a purchase at the regular price. Under no circumstances will the customer's email address be shared with the author or publisher unless the customer clearly confirms their acceptance of the offer by clicking an "I AGREE" button.
Essential10 does not currently run advertising but we may do so in the future. If we do, we will do our best to make them informative to our authors’ and readers’ interests. We will try to avoid annoying ads, such as pop-up or pop-under ads.
We do not market Essential10 to children. Like any bookstore, Essential10 hosts books that may contain adult themes and situations not recommended for children. We take multiple steps to ensure this content is not presented to children. First, we ask a person’s age range at registration. Young adults and children under 18 years of age are blocked from viewing content that contains adult situations or content deemed to be objectionable to children. We have three means for identifying potentially objectionable material. First, we allow authors to specify if the author’s work is suitable for children. Second, we allow people to flag works they believe are unsuitable for children. Finally, we warn people of potentially objectionable content before they click through to it. While we will try to keep objectionable material for children from being viewed by children, there is no guarantee that this will not happen.
Children are allowed to establish a MyEssential10 Account. The information we collect from children is the same we collect from all people as outlined above. This information will only be used to respond directly to the child's request. It will not be used by us for any other purposes without prior parental consent.
We provide you with the opportunity to opt-in and opt-out of receiving email communications from us. Additionally if you had decided to get emails from us and then changed your mind, you can cancel the communications at any time by clicking on the links contained in the email or by adjusting your communications preferences at http://www.Essential10.com/e10. Our site also gives you the option to remove your information from our database and to not receive future communications or receive our service. If you decide to cancel your account, see “Cancelling Your Account” below.
Our site gives you the ability to change and modify the information you have given us before by going to your MyEssential10 Account.
